"Agni’s IGNITE" an initiative by Agni’s Centre for Research and Development (Agni CRD) is a level playing field where in Tamil Nadu’s brightest young minds compete against each other and bring to the table their passion for science. Agni’s IGNITE 2014-15 Innovation Competition, is one of the biggest talent finder framed for schools to present their research and innovative talent and compete for awards in various categories. The competition unites top young scientific minds, showcasing their talents on a bigger stage, where scientists and researchers along with venture capitalist judge their work. The competition was held across schools in various districts in Tamilnadu. The government educational authorities guided & supported us by granting permission for conducting Agni’s IGNITE 2014-15 across all districts of the state. The culmination of the competition, i.e. the state level is now conducted in the form of reality show on television.

His Excellency Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam the former President of India, gave the motivational address to the 3000 students who participated for the Conference held on 17th April 2015. In his motivational address, Dr. Kalam, hailed the Conference and called it a right step at the right time in the right direction towards realization of his vision 2020 for India.

Ezham Arivu – is the first ever science reality show for school students that takes science to public through Television. The show is tailor made to showcase the different and diverse scientific innovations of the students and at the same time value added with the background stories and preparatory clips of students creating innovations. The show is being telecast on National Television – Doordarshan from 7.30 pm to 8.00 pm, Monday to Friday. The show is aimed at bringing out the young scientists within the school students by serving an ideal platform to exhibit their talent. The brightest 60 participants for this science reality show have been selected through competition process of Agni’s IGNITE 2014-15 that started nine months ago in September 2014.

Following the remarkable success and reach of Agni’s IGNITE 2014-15, we were thronged by requests for conducting 2nd season of Agni's IGNITE 2015-16 from students, parents and schools. We decided to continue our journey in finding the young scientific talents by starting season 2 of Agni's IGNITE 2015-16 from Sep 2015 onwards reaching out to schools. The Season 2 of Agni’s IGNITE saw overwhelming response from schools. The District level Conferences were conducted in all the districts of Tamilnadu. More than 60,000 children participated.

Mr Rajiv Chandran - Chief Information Officer, United Nations Information Center for Indian and Bhutan was the chief guest for the grand finale. The dignitaries who felicitated the function were Dr. D. Viswanathan - Former Vice-Chancellor, Anna University, Mrs. Radhika - Principal, SBOA School and Junior College, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Ismail - Scientist, Prof. T. S. Natarajan - Director, IIT, Tirupathi and Ms. Margaret David Raj - CEO, Bhakthavatchalam School, Chennai.
The past two years of conducting the state level science innovation competition had brought lot of supporters and we received requests from other states to conduct similar innovation competitions. In the year 2016, we launched the IGNITE India Science Innovation Competition for South Zone covering the 5 states – Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telegana. With the endorsement of the United Nations Information Centre and the program being telecast on television, there has been tremendous participation from across the southern states triggering a scientific revolution.
To further fuel the initiatives of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi like the Startup India, Make in India, Digital India, Skill India, this initiative by the IGNITE India Incubation Center would promote innovation and entrepreneurship among the students across the country.
Agni's Ignite India Innovation Conference 2017 was initiated based on the encouragement of our late former honourable people’s President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. This initiative is a joint effort of Agni College of Technology and Agni Foundation. Ignite India Innovation Conference is jointly hosted by Agni College of Technology and the United Nations Information Center, India & Bhutan on 27th January, 2017 at the college premises. More than 6000 students from 750 schools across Tamilnadu participated in the event.
Over the past 3 years, Ignite India has organized and hosted over 200 innovation conferences for young entrepreneurs across the country. Ignite-India also created “Ezham Arivu” – 1st ever Reality TV show for student innovators showcasing highly potential startup ideas and was rated No.1 TV show in the Doordarshan Channel with a daily viewership of 3 lakh households. The initiative was recently recognized by the United Nations as one of the top Socio-Economic Educational Initiatives focusing on innovation and Technology for Young student innovators. Promising ideas are funded by Ignite Incubation Centre(IIC). The IIC is spearheaded by a notable board of advisors, steered by a knowledge council consisting of educationalists and academicians and is also being guided by an innovation council represented by Corporate India executives.
During his presidential speech, Mr Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder Ignite-India & Agni Foundation, Vice-Chairman Agni College of Technology, motivated the students to progress in their pursuit as young scientists. He captivated the students with his elevated speech. He observed 30 seconds silence for Tamil traditional sport. He announced that the most innovative Sustainable innovations will be selected to appear in E7ham Arivu - the 1st ever Reality TV show for Young student innovators. He is laudable for his yeoman service by hosting over 200 innovation conferences for young entrepreneurs.
Renowned Actor Surya, Founder of Agaram Foundation was the Chief Guest of the function. His charisma, eloquence and style of speech enthralled the audience magnanimously. He thanked Agni Foundation for allotting 100 seats for Agaram Foundation. He encouraged the students to make use of this wonderful opportunity. He insisted that the young scientists have to fulfill the vision of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He advised the students not to be an addict to mobile phones. He asked to give priority to every aspect of life. He stressed on the importance of enlightening and empowering the student community is the only way for battling and eliminating social evils and uplifting the society.
Dr.Daniel Chellappa, Senior Scientist, BARC was the Guest of Honor of the function. Dr.Sultan Ahmed Ismail, Director, Echo science Research Foundation and T.S Natrajan, Professor, IIT, Thirupathi, and Delegates from USA graced the event. During the event about 300 projects were awarded for their innovative exhibit. District wise Top Three Prizes were distributed for Senior Category and Junior Category from Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur districts respectively. The function dissolved with vote of thanks and National Anthem.
